Joy’s love affair with flowers began as a young girl in Michigan where she helped her mother weed and deadhead long beds of perennials throughout the warm humid summer. Joy has a degree in Interior Design from Michigan State University and now lives and works in the temperate climate of Northern California. She coupled her love for plants and design to create Joyous Spaces, a floral & garden design studio where she creates outdoors living spaces and floral designs for her clients in the Bay Area.
At Joyous Spaces, we love creating artful flower arrangements and vertical garden installations for weddings and special events. The flora is locally grown and often from our own cutting garden and greenhouse. We work closely with our clients, listening, sharing images, ultimately producing compositions that surprise and delight.
Joy has a keen eye for editing, she specializes in drought tolerant landscapes, selecting regionally appropriate plants that can handle our long dry summers. Creating beautiful and functional gardens recognized for their textural lush plantings, elegant styling and use of color. Each project is treated as an opportunity to create an exciting and unique space, personalizing details to the client’s vision.
